Trek to Stok – Kangri

Stok Kangri Peak located at 6152 M is the highest Peak in the stok range of Himalayas. The peak is located in Hemis National Park and its clearly visible from Leh and surrounding areas. Standing at the summit of Stok Kangri, you can view the Karakoram Range to your north and Zanskar Range to your south. The best part of Stok Kangri trek is that you can reach to its basecamp in just 2-3 days of trekking while for any other peak of this height it takes at least 4-5 days of trekking to reach the base camp. Other compelling feature of this Trek is the opportunity to reach this altitude without the technical expertise in mountaineering.

Stok Kangri along with Friendship Peak and Ladakhi Peak have been declared as a trekking peaks by Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) which means less paper work. The 6000 m + peak presents the usual challenges of a mountaineering expedition, despite its relative ease. Therefore, one must be considerably fit and mentally strong to scale this giant. The biggest hurdle at such altitudes is rarefied air, which can give acute headaches and nausea to even the fit climbers towards the last stage of climbing the peak.
