In this meticulously curated 9-day trip you will get to see the most-popular sights, trek through quaint, off-beat locations and also indulge in some adventure activities.

Itinerary:

Day 1 – Reach Guwahati before noon. Drive to Shillong (3.5 hours). If time permits, stop at Umiam lake for an hour.

Day 2 – Sight-seeing – Mawphalang, Don Bosco museum and other places.

Day 3 – Drive to Langkawet. Check into hotel and after breakfast leave for Wahkadait. Reach by 10 am. Trek down to Shnongpdeng (about 3 hours).Lunch @ Shnongpdeng. Start at around 3 PM and drive down to Pomshutia. If time permits, spend an hour at Byrdaw waterfall. Else drive back to Langkawet directly.

Day 4 – Set off for Mawkyrnot at 7 am. Have breakfast on the way.

Explore the living roots bridges at Mawkyrnot (8.30 to 11 am) Drive down to Mawylnnong. Explore the place, have lunch. At about 2, drive down to Latang Riwan and trek from there to Shilliang Jashar (a few living root bridges on the way). Trek should take about 2.5 hours. Drive back to Langkawet.

Day 5 – Start at about 7 am. Stop for breakfast on the way. Reach Cherra at around 11. Sight-seeing at Sohra (Ka Bri Ki Synrang, Dianthlen and seven sisters waterfalls, Mawsmai cave etc). Those interested can do 3 – hour caving in the afternoon (1 to 4 pm).

Day 6 – Drive down to Tyrna and trek to Nongriat (about 3 hours) – descend down a seemingly endless staircase of 3500+ steps. In the afternoon, those interested can trek to Rainbow waterfalls and back (3 hours).

Day 7 – After breakfast, tough 3 to 4 hour steep climb to Nohkhalikai through a beautiful, diverse evergreen tropical rainforest. After lunch, drive to Mawlongbna. Stop at Mawjymbuin cave at Mawsynram on the way.

Day 8 – In the morning visit Iew Luri Lura, fossils area ( 3.5 hours). Return for lunch. In the afternoon, canyoning or kayaking in Umkhakhoi.

Day 9 – If time permits, visit Mawpdai and then return to Guwahati to catch an evening flight or train.
