Bannerghatta biological zoo is located between the Champakadhama Hill and the Mizra Hill in the Bannerghatta Reserve. You can visit the variety of mammals, reptiles and birds in this zoo. Around 78 species of animals are conserved over here. The main tourist attractions like Thamin Deer, Hog Deer, King cobra, Himalayan black bear and panthers are preserved here with lots of safety and care. To provide more knowledge about the wildlife and its preservation the visual media is used in the Auditorium in the zoo premises. This air conditioned auditorium is well operational with audio as well as video system and with the capacity of 120 seats. Also you can visit the Museum in the same premises to enjoy the view of various animal skeletons, trophies, photographs, fossils etc. this museum is specially build for the educational purpose.

Biological Park is successfully creating the responsiveness about the protection of flora and fauna. The precious trees like Sandalwood, Neem, Terminalia Tomentosa, Tamarind, Bamboo, Eucalyptus, Bauhinia Purpurea, Grewia Tilaefolia, Narcissus Latifolia are found the Bannerghatta park. Along with this Flora, you can see the animals like Elephants, Gaurs, leopards, foxes, sloth bear, wild boar, chital, spotted deer, barking deer etc. Some rare animals like Bonnet Macaque, Pangolin, Monitor Lizard, cobras, slender loris, krait, Russell’s viper are also seen. Apart from it the park is famous for one hundred and one species of birds in it. The biological park is actually a zoological reserve which has especially sheltered mammals like Indian Tigers, white tigers and lions.

Butterfly Park

Another attraction of Bannerghatta Biological Park is Butterfly Park. The Zoo Authority of Karnataka and the Department of Biotechnology Government of India have started this project in 2003. In the year 2007 the butterfly park was opened for the visitors. In this park the Research and Captive Breeding Laboratory and Museum is there for tourist’s interest. Also the curio shop is located in the same premises. The area of the butterfly park is around 7.5 acres and three dome structures are built over here. Around 48 different species of butterflies are conserved in the park.

Bannerghatta national park safari

Karnataka State Tourist Development Corporation has arranged Safari Excursion in the park. This facility gives the tourists the opportunity of observation wild animals in their natural habitat. The safari vehicle is safe enough to carry the tourists in the centre of the forest to watch them closely. The route to the safari passes through the small hill Mattubunde and visitors can experience the breathtaking experience of hills and valleys along with green and dark forest. The main purpose of this safari is to give the tourist opportunity to study and enjoy the company of various animals.
